VISIT THE BLOG!While Funkopolis prepares its next original production, the details of which will be forthcoming very soon, please visit the PRESSING THE FLESH blog! POUNDING THE PAVEMENT FOR PRESSING THE FLESHFunkopolis has always been known for “thinking outside of the box” when it comes to fundraising, but this marks a first! As we head into Election Season 2004, and the Democrats and Republicans are in Convention mode, and everyone seems to be running for SOMETHING, Funkopolis didn’t want to be left out! So Artistic Director Tim Brown will be running…. For FUNKOPOLIS!! Between August 1 and continuing through August 14th, Funkopolis will be presenting its First Ever (and maybe the World’s First) Virtual Runathon, in support of their latest original production, PRESSING THE FLESH. Within the fourteen day time period, Tim will run from his home in Allentown to the birthplace of Democracy, Independence Hall in Philadelphia, PA! The exact mileage is 59.7 miles, but Tim the distance… with a catch, of course. For more info, visit the POUNDING THE PAVEMENT page and see how you can support Tim and Funkopolis on this clearly absurd event! FUNKOPOLIS CONTINUES DISTINCTIVE VISION WITH WORLD PREMIERE PRODUCTION, PRESSING THE FLESH, AT PHILLY FRINGE 2004After a two-year hiatus, some reorganization and reconstitution, FUNKOPOLIS is in the midst of creating its latest original production, PRESSING THE FLESH - and just in time for Election Season 2004!! PRESSING THE FLESH will be making
it's World Premiere at the Philadelphia Fringe
Festival SEPTEMBER 16-18, 2004, at Plays and Players Cabaret Theatre,
1714 Delancey Street, in the heart of Philadelphia. For
ticket information and reservations, please call (610) 507-5395,
or visit the Philly Fringe website at http://www.pafringe.org. As we approach what many consider to be one of the most important elections in recent history, Pressing the Flesh roots itself in the world of escalating apathy and cynicism and asks why an increasing number of American citizens simply choose not to participate in the Democracy that we all celebrate as Americans. BOCHENSKI'S BRAIN Premieres in New York Funkopolis gave audiences a head-spinning turn with its first comedy, BOCHENSKI'S BRAIN, as part of the 2002 American Living Room Festival at HERE in New York City. The production was an enormous success, and we were thrilled to have so many well-wishers! The summer retreat in Allentown was also incredibly successful; our first visit to this culturally-aware, incredibly friendly burg was a boon to our creative process. We especially thank our friends at Theatre Outlet, and the amazing students of our "Whole Body Acting Classes" -- Al, Kendall, Maureen, Anna, Chrissy, David, Jen, Fran, Crow, Mike, Shawna, Billy, Deja, and everyone who made our time so special! |
